Las Vegas, June 22, 2024 – It was an evening to remember, as hundreds of distinguished guests gathered to celebrate Sasha Larkin on Saturday. The Assistant Sheriff bade farewell to her storied career in law enforcement with a retirement party for the ages. Guests included past and present members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, prominent politicians, lawyers and judges, influential business owners, and even Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo!

Sasha Larkin has dedicated more than 25 years to the LVMPD, serving in several capacities from patrol, vice, and internal affairs, to rising in the ranks as Captain of the Summerlin Area Command, and finally solidifying her commitment to public safety as Las Vegas’s first female Assistant Sheriff. In 2008, she co-founded the Women of Metro, dedicated to supporting and empowering women in law enforcement. In recognition of the Assistant Sheriff’s work, Councilwoman Victoria Seaman presented her with a proclamation from the Mayor of Las Vegas and members of the City Council.

As always, local entrepreneur Antonio Accornero was there to show his support, and his restaurant, Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria, provided food for the occasion. “I’m sad that Sasha will be leaving the LVMPD, but I know she is moving on to bigger and better things,” said Accornero. “I wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life!”

Restaurant Hosts Fundraiser for Las Vegas Mayoral Candidate Shelley Berkley

Las Vegas, May 21, 2024 – With Primary Election Day just weeks away, political candidates are counting on fundraising events in the final push for donations and votes. Once again, Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria co-owners, Antonio Accornero and Chef Giancarlo Bomparola, hosted a VIP event at their restaurant Tuesday evening as a fundraiser for Mayoral Candidate Shelley Berkley.

Of all the candidates vying for the position of Mayor of Las Vegas, Berkley brings the most experience, with a lengthy career that included time in the Legislature, on the Board of Regents, and in Congress. At Tuesday’s event, Berkley addressed several topics, including affordable housing. “I understand how important it is for families to be able to find homes in safe neighborhoods to raise their children.” She also expressed her commitment to tackling crucial issues such as public safety and homelessness.

Mr. Accornero is also concerned about the homelessness problem, as it can be a factor in declining public safety. “It affects every area of the city, including the suburbs,” he said. “We need to address the issue now, so that Las Vegas can successfully grow over the coming years.”

Berkley agreed, assuring him that her experience and knowledge will help her in handling the challenges ahead. She and Accornero are on the same page as far as fostering a strong relationship with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, an organization Accornero ardently supports.

LVMPD Foundation Hosts Luncheon Celebrating Female Leadership

Las Vegas, April 23, 2024 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Foundation hosted its seventh Annual Wonder Women of Metro Luncheon at the Palms Casino Resort on Tuesday. The event celebrates and recognizes female leadership in law enforcement and in our community. Benefitting the LVMPD Foundation and its numerous programs, the luncheon serves as a reminder to appreciate the wonderful women in our lives who are dedicated to public safety and our community. In addition to raising important funds for the Foundation, this public awareness initiative pushes the needle forward in strengthening relationships between the LVMPD and those they serve. By recognizing and highlighting the women in the department and the importance that diverse perspectives bring to our community, we become stronger and safer.

This year’s event shined a spotlight on the DREAM (Discover, Redirect, Empower, Advocate, & Mentor) program, which is a 12-week mentoring and personal development program for at-risk teenagers. LVMPD Captain Michelle Tavarez spoke eloquently about the initiative, which engages young people and builds trust between officers and local children, creating a safer community. Newly-elected LVMPD Foundation Board member Antonio Accornero was in attendance at the event and generously donated to the DREAM fund. “I understand the importance of helping these kids to break bad cycles,” said Accornero. “With our support, they can look forward to a brighter, more productive future.”

Local Entrepreneur Recognized at Annual Police Gala

Las Vegas, April 12, 2024 – Las Vegas businessman Antonio Accornero was recognized as the newest Board Member of the LVMPD Foundation at the organization’s seventh annual Hidden Heroes Gala on Friday night. As an enduring and dedicated supporter of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, it was only fitting that Mr. Accornero join forces with the department, in order to bolster the capabilities of local law enforcement. By working with the Police Department in a more direct capacity via the LVMPD Foundation, Accornero will lend his extensive business acumen in helping to raise and allocate funds to build upon what is already one of the strongest law enforcement agencies in the country.

Mr. Accornero is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Board, saying, “I’m looking forward to working with fellow community leaders who share my goal of making Las Vegas a better, safer community.” Karen Marben, Executive Director of the LVMPD Foundation, shared her sentiments: “In joining the LVMPD Foundation Board of Directors, Accornero brings a wealth of experience and a steadfast commitment to advancing the mission of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Fundraiser Held for Mayoral Candidate Shelley Berkley

Las Vegas, March 05, 2024 – As the Las Vegas Mayoral Primary Election draws near, political candidates are ramping up their efforts to garner support for their campaigns. Several candidates are vying for the position, but if the turnout at a private fundraiser held Tuesday for Shelley Berkley is any indication, her chances look excellent. The gathering drew the “Who’s Who” of Las Vegas — and for good reason. Of all the candidates, Berkley brings the most experience, with a lengthy career that included time in the Legislature, on the Board of Regents, and in Congress. The former seven-term congresswoman has pointed to her long history in elected office, indicating that it’s crucial to elect someone who will have a “steady hand at the helm” of Las Vegas’s growth. “My congressional district overlaid the city of Las Vegas,” explains Berkley, “so there isn’t anything that was happening in the city that I wasn’t intimately involved in.”

Tuesday’s event was hosted by former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones Blackhurst and Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, among other Las Vegas area VIPs. In attendance was local businessman Antonio Accornero, a friend and supporter of Steve Wolfson and his daughter Rebecca, who is currently running for Municipal Court Judge. In addition to supporting the Wolfsons, Accornero is also sponsoring Shelley Berkley in her run for Mayor. “Shelley is the best candidate for Mayor,” said Accornero. “With her experience, knowledge, and strong relationship with the LVMPD, she’s going to make great strides for our growing city.”
