Local Entrepreneur Recognized at Annual Police Gala
Las Vegas, April 12, 2024 – Las Vegas businessman Antonio Accornero was recognized as the newest Board Member of the LVMPD Foundation at the organization’s seventh annual Hidden Heroes Gala on Friday night. As an enduring and dedicated supporter of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, it was only fitting that Mr. Accornero join forces with the department, in order to bolster the capabilities of local law enforcement. By working with the Police Department in a more direct capacity via the LVMPD Foundation, Accornero will lend his extensive business acumen in helping to raise and allocate funds to build upon what is already one of the strongest law enforcement agencies in the country.

Fundraiser Held for Mayoral Candidate Shelley Berkley
Las Vegas, March 05, 2024 – As the Las Vegas Mayoral Primary Election draws near, political candidates are ramping up their efforts to garner support for their campaigns. Several candidates are vying for the position, but if the turnout at a private fundraiser held Tuesday for Shelley Berkley is any indication, her chances look excellent. The gathering drew the “Who’s Who” of Las Vegas — and for good reason. Of all the candidates, Berkley brings the most experience, with a lengthy career that included time in the Legislature, on the Board of Regents, and in Congress. The former seven-term congresswoman has pointed to her long history in elected office, indicating that it’s crucial to elect someone who will have a “steady hand at the helm” of Las Vegas’s growth. “My congressional district overlaid the city of Las Vegas,” explains Berkley, “so there isn’t anything that was happening in the city that I wasn’t intimately involved in.”
Tuesday’s event was hosted by former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones Blackhurst and Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, among other Las Vegas area VIPs. Las Vegas, February 01, 2024 – Local entrepreneur Antonio Accornero confirmed his endorsement of Municipal Court Judge candidate Rebecca Wolfson this week. In a show of his support, Accornero invited Wolfson and her father, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, along with her campaign manager, Tom Letizia, to lunch at Siena Italian Restaurant, just one of the many businesses he owns in Las Vegas.

Local Business Leader Pledges His Support in 2024 Mayoral Race
Las Vegas, January 22, 2024 – The year 2024 will prove to be a crucial one in the election cycle, not only at the national level, but also in state and local government. In the race for Las Vegas Mayor, candidates are seeking to replace termed-out Mayor Carolyn Goodman after she and her husband, Oscar Goodman, have held the role for a combined 25 years. The Goodmans’ reign mainly focused on revitalizing and expanding downtown Las Vegas, as well as bringing professional sports teams to the valley.
With Mayor Carolyn Goodman termed out, many people have thrown their hats in the ring, including former Rep. Shelley Berkley, a seven-time U.S. congresswoman and lifelong Las Vegan. In a candidate forum held last October, Las Vegas mayor hopefuls discussed issues plaguing the city, including pervasive homelessness, mediocre public schools, rising property crime statistics, and soaring housing costs. In presenting their individual plans, they detailed the priorities for their first 100 days in office.

Countless prominent guests attended the event to support the candidate, but none as important to her as her parents, current Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson and retired Judge Jackie Glass. Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 2024
Las Vegas, January 9, 2024 – Properties around the Las Vegas Valley showed support for the law enforcement community on Tuesday by lighting up buildings and marquees in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Across the country on January 9th each year, citizens take the lead to show support of law enforcement officers of every rank and file who have chosen a profession that puts their life on the line every day for their communities. National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was created by multiple agencies in 2015 in order for the public to express gratitude to law enforcement officers throughout the United States. Community Leader Helps Make Children’s Christmas Wishes Come True
Las Vegas, December 19, 2023 – Christmas is a magical time of year, but sadly, children from low-income neighborhoods often don’t get to celebrate the joys of the season. Fortunately, that’s where community partners like The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Mario’s Westside Market really come through. Each year, Mario Berlanga of Mario’s Westside Market hosts a heartwarming Toy and Bike Giveaway event, partnering with LVMPD’s Bolden Area Command and community leaders to make underprivileged children’s wishes come true.
One such collaborator this year was Antonio Accornero, whose company, Winner Properties, was the single largest donor of bicycles for the giveaway. As a longtime supporter of the LVMPD, Mr. Accornero is always eager to take part in events that provide not only financial aid, but emotional support as well. “I’m happy to be able to sponsor an event that helps kids in need,” said Accornero. “For a lot of them, this will be their first bike, and it’s nice to know that I could make a few dreams come true.”
Local Restaurant Hosts Brunch Benefitting LVMPD’s Santa Cops
Las Vegas, December 03, 2023 – As Christmas quickly approaches, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is holding its annual Santa Cops Initiative, and the LVMPD Foundation invites the community to support the event, which was designed to bring the joy of toys, as well as much needed necessities, to hundreds of children in need. Beyond the festive cheer of the holidays, Santa Cops serves a higher purpose -- to forge positive connections between children and law enforcement officers, fostering a sense of trust and understanding.
The true magic of Santa Cops is made possible through the generosity of community members who support the LVMPD Foundation. Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria and Deli, co-owned by Antonio Accornero and Chef Giancarlo Bomparola, continued the tradition of supporting the LVMPD by hosting a “Mom and Me” brunch on Sunday, specifically benefitting Santa Cops. Siena partnered with Fabulous Shoe Night, a social and networking group that raises money to help charities, and FSN Las Vegas Chapter Leader Carolyn Streva once again organized this year’s brunch. “Each year, Metro officers use money raised from events such as Fabulous Shoe Night to take an underprivileged child on a holiday shopping spree,” explained Streva. “Oftentimes, these are the only holiday gifts these children will receive.”
Las Vegas Businessman Invited to LVMPD MMAC Meeting
Las Vegas, November 21, 2023 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department extended an invitation to local businessman Antonio Accornero to attend their latest MMAC meeting on Tuesday. The MMAC is Metro’s Multi-Cultural Advisory Council, made up of 30 members from diverse backgrounds (Hispanics, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Arab-Americans, Gay/Lesbian community, and a representative from the ACLU).
The Council meets monthly to discuss community issues with the Sheriff and Undersheriff, and members of the panel listen to concerns and work together to solve problems. The meetings help committee members understand the culture of the LVMPD and provide valuable feedback to Metro about what's happening in the Las Vegas Valley.
As a prominent member of the community with various businesses in Las Vegas, Mr. Accornero was invited to take part in the recent meeting, in order to provide insight into what he feels are vital issues to discuss. “I think it’s important for local business owners to work with the LVMPD to address the concerns we see every day,” said Accornero. “I’m always here to lend a helping hand and offer my support.”
LVMPD’s 50th Anniversary Celebrated at Annual Best of the Badge Gala
Las Vegas, October 20, 2023 – The LVMPD Foundation hosted its 10th Annual “Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge” Gala Friday night at the Wynn Hotel. This year’s event was particularly special, as it celebrated the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s 50th Anniversary, while honoring officers for distinguishing themselves in the line of duty. These brave men and women are dedicated to saving lives as they risk their own, and their dramatic and harrowing stories earn the top officers a commendation. Among these are: the Medal of Valor, the Unit Medal of Valor, the Preservation of Life Award, the Medal of Honor, and the Purple Heart Award.
This year’s Gala marked Sheriff McMahill’s first as Leader of the Department, and he eloquently addressed guests at the gathering. “This time last year, I was sitting in the audience as your Sheriff-elect. One year later, I am proud of the direction our organization is headed and more committed than ever to ensuring the well-being of our officers.” Acknowledging their heroism, McMahill presented honorees with medals, including the newly-created “Sheriff’s Honors.” This tradition, started by McMahill himself, recognizes heroes not for a singular incident, but for repeated actions that prioritize police officers and community members.

LVMPD Foundation Hosts 6th Annual Lunch with the Sheriff

Community Celebrates First Female Assistant Sheriff
Las Vegas, June 24, 2023 – Friends and supporters of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department gathered Saturday evening to celebrate the promotion of Sasha Larkin to the position of Assistant Sheriff of the LVMPD. Larkin made history when Sheriff Kevin McMahill appointed her as Las Vegas’s first female Assistant Sheriff, a result of her experience and dedication to the Department. Having served the LVMPD for over twenty-three years, Larkin currently oversees two divisions that comprise the Special Operations Group: the Homeland Security Division and the Investigative Services Division.
Recognized for her work in community engagement, Sasha was integral in building the Office of Community Engagement (OCE) and the Fusion Liaison Officer Program. She is also Chair of Women of Metro, an outreach organization that mentors women internally for promotion in law enforcement and hosts a variety of community events. The Women of Metro draws support from community leaders, one of the most prominent being Antonio Accornero.
The Human Rights Campaign Holds Annual Dinner in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, May 13, 2023 – The Human Rights Campaign held its 16th Annual Dinner at Caesar’s Palace Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday evening. Each year, the event celebrates the work of trailblazers and community leaders who have dedicated their lives to uplift, support, and secure equal rights for all LGBTQ+ citizens. This year’s honorees were Eduardo Cordova, who received the Equality Award, and Larry Edwards, who received the Trailblazer for Equality Award.
People from all walks of life attended the event, from members of the LGBTQ+ community to allies and friends who believe in equality for everyone. Distinguished supporters included national leaders such as U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, who vow to “continue to fight for the inclusive, thoughtful, and concrete changes that true progress requires.” Also echoing that sentiment was Congressman Steven Horsford, who is “committed to standing with the HRC and working together to promote equality, justice, and fairness for all.”

UWSN’s Women United Group Holds Annual Fashion Show Luncheon
Las Vegas, April 22, 2023 – Over 500 local leaders joined United Way of Southern Nevada and Women United for the fashion and shopping event of the season during their annual fashion show luncheon on Saturday. This year’s theme was “Women Reimagined,” empowering women in the workplace, in education, in the community, and all sectors of society. 911 Dispatchers Awarded for Outstanding Work and Dedication
Las Vegas, April 11, 2023 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department celebrated National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week with an award ceremony Tuesday, recognizing the invaluable work of 911 Dispatchers. The LVMPD processes over three million calls a year and services all of Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County. As a result, Police Dispatcher Professionals have a direct impact on the lives and safety of the citizens of Las Vegas and the officers of the LVMPD.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill, who was on hand to present the awards, made it clear how important it is to recognize these incredible individuals. “The mental toughness required to successfully be a part of the LVMPD Communications Bureau cannot be overstated,” said McMahill. “You are the first responders in times of crisis, and you always show bravery in the face of danger. Las Vegas Businessman Partners with the LVMPD to Form Coalition

An Evening With the Sheriff Presented by LVMPD’s Women of Metro
Las Vegas, March 28, 2023 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s “Wonder Women of Metro” hosted an evening with Sheriff McMahill on Tuesday. The event, which welcomed more than 400 community, business, and law enforcement leaders, provided an opportunity for McMahill to share his goals for the LVMPD, as well as his vision for the community. Though only in office for 90 days, the Sheriff has been hard at work implementing his plan for the Police Department since he won in the Primary Election last June. McMahill’s renowned law enforcement career spans more than three decades, with service at every level of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, including six years as Undersheriff.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Sworn into Office
Las Vegas, March 09, 2023 – Judge Amy Wilson was officially invested as Justice of the Peace, Las Vegas Township Department 7 on Thursday. The Honorable Justice Douglas Herndon presided over the ceremony, and other notable participants included the Honorable Justice Ann Zimmerman, Kevin R.
