Las Vegas, April 05, 2025 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation held its 8th Annual Hidden Heroes Gala at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday. This year’s honorees were the LVMPD Honor Guard, a group of individuals who embody the highest traditions of honor, discipline and service. LVMPD Foundation Executive Director, Karen Marben, highlighted their commitment to the Department: “These dedicated officers represent the very best of law enforcement, standing as guardians of respect and tradition in their solemn duty to honor fallen officers, represent the department at official ceremonies, and provide comfort to the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
This sentiment was echoed by Sheriff Kevin McMahill at Saturday’s event. “This year, we are honoring the heart and soul of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department,” he said. “When tragedy strikes, these heroes are the glue that helps us honor the fallen, comfort the grieving, and uphold the highest traditions of law enforcement. They are the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Honor Guard, the finest in the nation.”
Las Vegas businessman Antonio Accornero, a longtime supporter of the LVMPD, sponsored a table at the Gala and donated a gift card from his restaurant, Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria and Deli. “I have tremendous respect and admiration for all of the officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. This year, it is truly special to recognize the men and women of the Honor Guard, who pay tribute to those who dedicated their lives to protect and serve their communities.”
The mission of the Honor Guard is to serve the police department and the community as a visual reminder of the service and traditions of law enforcement, forever respecting and remembering with honor and distinction past and present police officers for their dedication and service to the citizens of Southern Nevada. With the utmost respect and distinction, the Honor Guard ensures that the dedication and sacrifice of fallen, retired, and active officers are never forgotten.
“Celebrating the Heroes Behind the Badge” is the motto for the annual Hidden Heroes Black & White Gala, which recognizes unsung heroes at LVMPD who are committed to the community and work to keep residents and visitors safe every day. Inspiration for the Hidden Heroes Black & White Gala stems from the heroic acts of 1 October and the crucial role played by the investigative unit that reviewed the harrowing bodycam footage for the Criminal Investigative Report on the 1 October Mass Shooting. Since 2018, in partnership with The Gratitude Project, the Foundation has been honoring department sections and units that play integral roles in law enforcement but are not traditionally in the spotlight. The Gala’s “Black & White” theme is a nod to the color scheme of Metro’s squad cars. Proceeds from the Gala support the Foundation’s mission to provide Metro with the strongest platforms for public safety, including training, equipment and technology, and community engagement events.
