Las Vegas, July 19, 2023 – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation hosted its 6th Annual Lunch with the Sheriff on Wednesday at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa. The event serves as a public awareness initiative, strengthening the bond between the LVMPD and its communities. At the luncheon, Sheriff Kevin McMahill addressed Southern Nevada business and community leaders, including local philanthropist Antonio Accornero.

This year, Antonio Accornero was once again recognized for his ongoing support of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, specifically in his role as a Founding Member of the prestigious 100 Club. “100” signifies the call sign for the LVMPD Sheriff, and membership to the 100 Club is only offered to generous donors who invest in public safety annually. “It’s a privilege for me to be able to support the men and women of our police department,” said Accornero, “and I’m looking forward to all of the advancements our new Sheriff, my friend Kevin McMahill, has in store for the LVMPD.”

Contributions to the LVMPD Foundation fund impactful programs across Clark County, enhancing public safety and reducing crime. The Foundation’s mission is to support Metro through investments in training, technology and equipment, health and wellness, and community engagement. Sheriff McMahill is initiating changes in the department, including utilizing the latest technology to “make the LVMPD the most technologically advanced police department in the country.”

As in years past, this year’s luncheon featured equipment and technology exhibits from multiple law enforcement units within the LVMPD and provided an interactive experience for the attendees who met with officers and learned more about their latest advancements in public safety. The Lunch with the Sheriff event, which began in 2016, has been designed to continue to develop stronger relationships between the community and officers, allowing participants to get to know their LVMPD heroes in uniform and learn more about how they work to keep the community safe each and every day.

This public awareness initiative is beneficial, not only in strengthening relationships between the LVMPD and the community, but also in continuing impactful programs across the County that help keep roads safer, keep residents informed and alert, and reduce crime.
