Local Philanthropist Pays Tribute to the 1 October Victims and Their Families

Oct 1, 2022

Benefitting the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department

Las Vegas, October 01, 2022 – On the 5-year anniversary of the 1 October shooting, Las Vegas businessman Antonio Accornero honored the victims and their families by pledging his ongoing support of those affected by the tragedy. At the time of the horrific incident that has impacted the entire Las Vegas community, Accornero and his business partner, Giancarlo Bomparola (co-owners of Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria & Deli), donated half of the proceeds generated by their Eighth Annual Italian Car and Motorcycle Show Event to the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund.

Today, they vow to continue their support. “This tragedy has affected so many people in our community, and we will keep providing any resources we can to those in need,” said Accornero. “I especially want to honor the fallen heroes of the Police Department.” Mr. Accornero is a recognized supporter of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and his philanthropic contributions over the years have not only benefitted the community as a whole, but a significant portion of his donations are directed to the LVMPD, its officers, and their families.

On the solemn occasion of the 5-year anniversary of the tragedy, the LVMPD Foundation held a private event to raise funds for those affected. Tom Kovach, Executive Director of the Foundation, wrote in a statement:

“We will forever remember those whom we lost on 1 October and honor the brave who responded with selfless action. Among those courageous individuals was faller Officer Charleston Hartfield, who lost his life while taking off-duty action to rescue his fellow concert-goers during the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

We especially thank the nearly 1,000 Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers and staff who participated in the response to 1 October and the entire Department who work tirelessly every day and night to keep us safe. We also thank their families who have provided the support that allows them to protect and serve.

On this day of remembrance, our thoughts are with the families of the victims and all who were affected by 1 October. We remain steadfast in doing our part to heal, support, and strengthen our community.”

Antonio Accornero has donated significant time and resources to charitable organizations throughout the years, and this is certainly one cause close to his heart. Las Vegas will never forget and will forever be #VegasStrong.
