LVMPD Foundation News

Las Vegas, January 9, 2025 – The LVMPD Foundation hosted a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD) celebration Thursday evening at BrewDog Las Vegas. This annual day of recognition gives citizens and businesses a chance to show their support for the men and women who serve and protect their community. This year, as in the past, properties across Las Vegas went BLUE, with hotels along the Strip lighting up their marquees and towers in honor of all of the law enforcement officers who dedicate their lives to keeping the city safe.

The event also recognized the LVMPD Foundation’s “100 Club” members. Executive Director, Karen Marben, thanked them for their involvement, saying, “You truly are setting the bar for what it means to support our local law enforcement agency.” In addition, the gathering provided the perfect setting to celebrate a brand-new initiative, called the “Top COP of the Year.” COP stands for “Community Oriented Policing” and focuses on the vital work officers do to build safer, stronger neighborhoods. This year’s winner was the LVMPD Spring Valley Area Command, under the leadership of Captain Katie Geiger.

In honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, LVMPD supporter and Foundation Board Member Antonio Accornero extended his deepest gratitude to everyone in law enforcement for their unwavering dedication in serving the community. He also offered his heartfelt congratulations to the SVAC on their Top COP win. “As an owner of multiple businesses in Spring Valley, I would like to thank Captain Geiger and her team for keeping the area safe. Congratulations on your award!”
