Notes on the data: Latitude and longitude data are shown in decimal form. Positive latitude values are considered "North" latitude and are always located in the Northern Hemisphere. Latitude values are relative to the Equator. Postive longitude values are considered "East" longitude. Longitude values are relative to location of city of Greenwich, England which is considered zero longitude and where all time-zone offsets are referenced to: Greenwich is considered GMT, or Greenwich Mean Time while all other timezones are either plus or minus some offset value from GMT. Pacific Standard Time (PST), for example is GMT -8 (GMT -7 during Dayight Savings Time, or PDT). GMT is also referred to as "UTC" or "Zulu" time. Until Antonio rides East of Greenwich (about 6 miles East and a bit South of London), his longitude numbers will always be "West" longitude and appear as negative numbers. Once he passes Greenwich, his longitude numbers will become positive values. Temperature is fairly accurate but remember that it represents the temperature of the GPS Transponder which will probably be warmer than the actual air temperature. Voltage is interesting not for its actual value but because it tells you if the motorcycle is running or not. If you see anything above about 13.6V, then the motorcycle's engine is running either at idle or because he's in motion. If you see anything below 13V then the engine's off but the accessories are still on. This usually means that he's stopped to eat lunch or to sightsee for a short time and he's probably very close to the motorcycle. Date MsgRcvd is the date and time that the PR was received by the satellite network. This time is recorded at GMT so for those of you reading this in the Pacific Time Zone you must subtract 8 to get Pacific Time. Mind-Bending Note: Even though we're observing Daylight Savings Time in the U.S. right now, the time-stamp is unadjusted GMT so you have to subtract 8, not 7. You will notice that the PRs do not occur at exact intervals and sometimes there are gaps longer than one hour between PRs. These gaps may mean any of a few things:
Date RecCreated is the date and time that the PR record was created. In other words, when I entered the record. Ideally, the this time is very close to the Date MsgRcvd date/time but some days I will be slower than on other days. Working on this. Note to self: Put a pressure sensor in the seat next time so we can know when Antonio's actually in the saddle |
